Please help justice for the families of the victims من فضلك وقع على المطالب من أجل العدالة ومن أجل مصر أفضل   Call for Justice: Investigation into the New Years Coptic Church Alexandria Published by Ibrahim Habib on Sep 16, 2011 Signatures   Target: Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, Prime Minister Essam Sharaf Region: Egypt Sign the petition       Background (Preamble): يعرب أهالي القتلى والمصابين وكثيرون من المصريين عن استيائهم لمرور أكثر من تسع شهور على حادث التفجير المأساوي الذي وقع أمام كنيسة القديسين في الاسكندرية بعد مرور دقائق قليلة من بدء العام الميلادي الجديد 2011، مما اسفر عن مقتل 21 وأصابة أكثر من مائة من المصلين. ويُخشى من عدم وجود رغبة واضحة لدى السلطات المعنية في اتخاذ اي اجراء قانوني لضبط الجناة وتقديمهم للمحاسبة امام القضاء، حيث أن هذا التجاهل من شأنه الاسهام في زيادة الهجمات ضد الاقباط. ان تحديد المسئولين عن هذه الجريمة النكراء، وتقديمهم للعدالة امام القضاء سيضع حداً للمعاناة اليومية لأسر الضحايا. مما يتعين أن تأخذ العدالة مجراها فوراً وبدون تأخير. لذلك نرفع التماسنا التالي لكم طالبين تحقيق العدالة لضحايا كنيسة القديسين بالاسكندرية الابرياء:   The Families of the victims and many Egyptians wish to express their disillusionment that over 9 months has passed since the tragic explosion outside the Two Saints Church in Alexandria, Egypt that happened minutes into the New Year 2011 without any prosecutions or evidence of this hideous attack even been investigated. This terrorist attack resulted in the loss of 21 lives and over 100 severely injured. There is growing fears of the apparent unwillingness to make any attempts to bring those responsible to justice which could be a major contributing factor in the sudden increase attacks against Copts. Only justice can end the daily suffering and anguish of the families. This must be seen to be done promptly and with undue delay. Accordingly we call for : Petition: 1- نطالب بسرعة إصدار حكم يلزم النائب العام ورئيس مجلس الوزراء ووزير الداخلية بفتح التحقيقات في هذا الملف وتقديم المتهمين الذين تكشف التحريات اتهامهم استكمالا للتحقيقات في الملف الأصلي واستكمالا للبلاغ رقم 7870 بالأمر بمثول حبيب العادلي وسؤاله عن الملف الأصلي والاتهام الموجه إليه بالإهمال. 2 - نطالب النائب العام, بصفته, بالكشف عن آليات وأسباب صدور قرار الإفراج عن المتهمين المشتبه فيهم في هذا الحادث ومطالبة النائب العام بإلغاء قرار حظر النشر رسمياً والإعلان عما وصلت إليه التحقيقات في هذا الملف وإعداد تقرير عن الحادث وآلياته وكيفية حدوثه وما ورد به من تقارير فنية. 3- نطالب رئيس الوزراء بصفته الرئيس الأعلى لكل الوزراء بإصدار قرارات عاجلة للسيد وزير الداخلية بسرعة تنفيذ قرارات النيابة العامة وتقديم التحريات اللازمة لهذا الحادث وتقديم المتهمين الذين تكشف عنهم التحريات على وجه السرعة للنيابة المختصة. 4 - منح تعويض مادي لعائلات الضحايا والمتضررين اسوة بشهداء ثورة يناير.   1- We respectfully call upon the Prosecutor General , Prime minister and Minister for Interior to open the investigation immediately and pursue the suspects in the original investigation and also comply with formal complaint no.7870 demanding former interior minister suspect Habib El-Adly stand trial for his alleged involvement. 2- We ask the prosecutor General to explain the basis on which he ordered the release of the suspects and circumstances surrounding that decision. We also request him to cancel the media blackout order and to publish the full results of the investigations to date . 3- We ask the Prime Minister to order the interior Ministry to open the investigation immediately following the recommendations of the state prosecutors which is yet to be implimented. 4- To compensate the victims and their families in line with the 25th January revolution compensation schemes.   Sign the petition

On a Mission   We clinicians belong to various Societies according to our specialties. We are all, however, members of one society ‘The Coptic Medical Society’ suggesting that we share something in common. What we share is one and the same vision: that we are all on a mission in our profession. That mission is to serve our fellow human beings to the best of our ability. In this, we are copying the founder of our Society ‘Lord Jesus’.   The main objective behind having a Coptic  Society is to highlight the principles of our services which we inherited from the Head of our Society. We had to go through studies and exams in the same way as He was examined at the end of the forty day fast,. After He passed the tests He started His mission as a multi-skilled physician.  Although we have learned that our ancestors the pharaohs were highly specialised in medicine, hundreds of years later came the multi-talented Healer. This non-specialist, multi-talented ability also demonstrates the difference between his unique nature and that of any contemporary physician.   He was a dermatologist who healed the lepers He was an ophthalmologist who made the blind see and created eyes for those born blind He was an ENT surgeon who healed the ear of Malchos, the servant of the archpriest, after Peter cut it with his sword. He also touched the ear of the deaf and dumb and they heard and spoke. He was a neurologist who healed the paralytic He was a talented gynaecologist who cured the woman with a bleeding uterus. He was a psychiatrist who treated many of those described by contemporaries as being mad. As a paediatric psychologist He embraced the children, gave them love and took away their anxiety. He was a cardiologist who cured Jyros’s daughter who was presented to him with what sounds like cardiac coma, if not death.   Proving that His unique nature was what allowed Him to do all the above, He raised Lazarus from the dead after 4 days. Finally, He was a great academic who had learned the books and scriptures well and used them as guidelines and an evidence base for his practice. Help Needed   THIS IS HOW YOU CAN HELP   There are two exciting opportunities you might be interested in:   1.      To join a team who visits Egypt on a yearly basis to see patients in deprived areas, as well as visit monasteries and convents to see patients there.  These trips have been taking place for the last 10 years.        A group of Coptic doctors from America (The Christian Coptic Health Professionals (CCHP) California USA) visit Egypt every November for about 10 days.   Last November they stayed for 2 days in Sohag, 2 days on El Menya and other deprived areas. An example of work being done included a pain relief specialist who was able to administer various nerve blocks and epidural for chronic pain. There is particular need for expertise from a rheumatologist, a dermatologist and preferably a female gynaecologist, as well as other specialties.  The emphasis is on clinical management and reassurance, making use of tests the patients have already had in the hospitals.    This year the team was joined by Sami El-Oskoff, a British trained urologist, who now lives in Egypt.  He both enjoyed and felt that the 10 days were a worthwhile exercise.  If you are interested the trip is taking place in November 2009.   Co-ordinator is Magdi Mikhael:   Tel: 0019097309986                                                       Email: mmmagdi@yahoo.com     2.      To become a hospital manager, to run one of the hospitals that Bishop Boulos looks after in Africa.  Ideally, the candidate will be clinically trained and have expertise in management.  If you are approaching retirement or have just retired, why not consider a year in Africa running a hospital?   Bishop Boulos was very grateful for all the equipment that the Coptic Medical Society donated, in particular the ultrasound and theatre equipment. A medical engineer managed to operate all the machines, which were distributed between Kenya and other African countries.   The society would like to thank Magdi Basillious for his outstanding contribution in supporting the hospitals in Africa.

الجمعية الطبية القبطية ببريطانيا تقدم خدماتها لأقباط مصر وافريقيا يسرنا ان نبشر جميع افراد الشعب القبطي بان الهنا القدير قد بارك الجهود التي تبذلها جمعية الاطباء المقيمين في بريطانيا من اجل تقديم الرعاية الطبية لاخوتنا الاقباط، ليس فقط في مصر ولكن في قارة افريقيا ايضا، ممن يعانون من مختلف الامراض، ولاسيما تلك الامراض المستعصية مثل السرطان، وتخفيف آلامهم. وتقوم الكنيسة القبطية من خلال ايبارشية افريقيا التي يشرف عليها نيافة الانبا انطونيوس مرقس ونيافة الانبا بولس منذ عام 1996 بالعمل في عديد من الدول الافريقية هي كينيا، زامبيا، تنزانيا، الكونغو، اوغندا، نيجيريا، بوروندي، جنوب افريقيا، زيمبابوي. ونقدم لكم لمحة سريعة عن نشاط مركز الامل القبطيCoptic Hope Centre  في المستشفى القبطي بنيروبي: يتردد على هذا المركز يوميا اكثر من 250 مريضاً، وقد بلغ عدد المرضى المقيدين به حتى شهر ابريل 2007 حوالي 6000 مريض. ويحتوي المركز على 60 سريراً، وغرفتين للعمليات، وغرف للاشعة، وهو يهتم اهتماما خاصا بعلاج مرضى الايدز (نقص المناعة) وذلك بالاشتراك مع مختلف وزارات الصحة بتلك الدول ، ووكالات اجنبية مثل:  "المعونة المسيحية“ ” Christian Aid" .والمؤسسة الالمانية "خبز العالم Bread for the world" .   في شهر مايو 2007 زار لندن نيافة الانبا بولس الاسقف بافريقيا (وهو بهذه المناسبة طبيب سابق) واجتمع بعدد كبير من الاطباء الاقباط العاملين في بريطانيا، وشرح لهم الحاجة الماسة للحصول على الاجهزة اللازمة للمستشفى القبطي في نيروبي عاصمة كينيا، هذا الى جانب التفكير في انشاء مستشفى في نيجيريا. واوضح نيافته اهمية ذلك المشروع فيما يتعلق بالخدمات التي تؤديها الكنيسة في افريقيا.   وفي نفس الشهر (مايو 2007) دُعي نيافة الانبا بولس الى البيت الابيض حيث استقبله الرئيس الامريكي جورج بوش، وعبر له عن تقديره للجهود العظيمة التي يبذلها في علاج مرضى الايدز في القارة الافريقية ومنحه شهادة تقدير لاحرازه افضل نتائج ناجحة للقضاء على مرض الايدز. وقد قامت الجمعية الطبية القبطية بجهد كبير لتلبية هذا الطلب وتوفير الاجهزة الطبية المطلوبة ، وزار احد اعضائها عددا من المزادات المتخصصة في بيع لوازم المستشفيات، وتمكن بمعونة الرب من شراء مجموعة كبيرة من المعدات والاجهزة الطبية بما يقدر ثمنها 700,000  جنيه استرليني، ولكنه تمكن من شرائها بحوالي 50 الف جنيه فقط الى جانب تكاليف الشحن . والجمعية الطبية القبطية ببريطانيا تناشدكم مساندة هذه الجهود الخيرية مادياً ومعنوياً بكل سخاء ، كما ترجو من الزملاء الاطباء تقديم بعض من وقتهم وخبراتهم لزيارة المركز والمستشفى لعلاج المرضى وتدريس الزملاء المقيمين في افريقيا.  ويحتاج المركز لمجهودات شبابنا خاصة في عطلات الصيف لخدمة هذا المشروع الخيري.

Pope Shenouda & CMS Honour Professor Sir Magdy Yacoub The Coptic community honoured Professor Sir Magdy Yacoub in a joyful occasion attended by His Holiness Pope Shenouda at the Royal Society of Medicine on Saturday 26th January 2002.His Holiness traveled to the UK to take part in this celebration. He described Professor Sir Magdy as a genius who inherited such genius from his ancestors the pharaohs. His Holiness expressed his thanks for treatment Sir Madgy had given to the many patients he personally sent him. Their treatment was given free, made possible through the charity "Chain of Hope" founded by Sir Magdy in 1993. In recognition of his great work and dedication His Holiness presented him with the Medal of St Mark.In reply, Sir Magdy expressed his gratitude to His Holiness. He acknowledged and thanked his team of medical professionals and charity workers without whom such work would not have been possible.The celebration was attended by the Bishops and Clergy from the Coptic church and many representatives from other orthodox churches. His Excellency, the Egyptian Ambassador spoke in praise of Sir Magdy. The celebration was also attended by the Consul General and a large number of members of the Egyptian Embassy. Dr Hassan Ismail orated a most impressive poem he had written in honour of  His Holiness and Sir Magdy. Many medical colleagues of Sir Madgy attended the occasion. In all 225 people were present on this happy occasion. The media was represented by the BBC World Service, El Ahram, Watani. The event was also broadcast on Egyptian satellite television.
